Healthy for a change

At the moment everything seems to have settles down. After the mayhem from last year, it’s safe to say this is a well deserved break from being unhealthy and dealing with the challenge we call Crohns and to be fair my own extra challenge of a slightly battered mental health.

*Touch wood* (please). We seem to be on the right tracks now and a lot of things about this year are actually looking really positive for us.

Ben has finally gone back to work- full time again. We have figured out a nice routine to help prevent us both becoming exhausted, we help each other with most things and prioritise little things we need to do.

I finally have a full time job, I’ve been employed with Red Carpet Direct now for about 5/6 weeks and I have already smashed a lot of training, I am now ready to take my leadership tests. I’ve also made a lot of new friends and business partners. 🎉

My goal; Is to run my own office, have an office dog, have charity campaigns online and direct so I can help many other causes the main causes I want to support? Crohns and Colitis UK an Autism Charity and a Southampton based charity- I think I have a few in mind.

Ben‘s goal; Stay healthy, calm and eat right and take the right meds, try and get into remission.

The modulife diet is going so well, actually I am really impressed with how we both coped with such a difficult diet. It’s becoming a lot easier. We are now allowed two cheat days however we stick to having one and then small cheats (like a bit of cheese, or a bag of crisps) whenever - just not too often If that makes sense. It just takes that pressure off a bit. Like if we were to go out for a few hours unexpectedly we can grab a meal deal without panicking too much- just an example- althoug saying that we are very very picky about labels and added ingredients.

The “Vendo” injections every two weeks are going really well. The pressure of being trained to inject Ben has eased and it’s now just a part of routine. I’m not sure if you can be bad at such thing, but I am pretty good at it.

Considering it’s lockdown we have made the most of our time and being well/ mental health slowly improving.

Even though everything seems positive, there has been bad days. Luckily they are far and few between at the moment. This week Ben ended up in Ben most of the day and had to take a day off because of really bad indigestion / pain. It just goes to show that even when things are good we still have to be extra careful and not take it for granted.

Living with an illness isn’t always obvious pain and hospital trips. We have to be so careful even when everything seems perfect.
